Day of Practice – Saturday 12 January 2019 – ‘Life without Sila is like a car without brakes’ – led by Martin Evans

The theme – ‘Life without Sila is like a car without brakes’ is taken from a quote by Ajahn Amaro.

‘Sila’ or morality is the foundation of meditation practice – because when we establish Sila, our mind becomes naturally joyful and at ease.  But it is difficult to calm the mind if we are troubled by the consequences of our actions.  To avoid what is unwholesome we need brakes – and we need to know when to stop.

The day will include periods of guided and silent meditation practice.  In the afternoon there will be a talk and discussion on the theme.

Registration is from 9.30am in the Retreat Centre Kitchen.  There will be a short orientation talk at 9.45am and then we gather in the Retreat Centre Shrine Room at 10am to start the day. Bring warm outdoor clothing for walking meditation.

Please bring some vegetarian food to share if you can.  No booking required.
